What is Tift ®?

Tift ® - Trauma Integrating Flow Therapy is a new generation of psychotherapy designed to address a wide range of issues, especially complex trauma (PTSD).

Developed in 2021 by Dr. Anandi Janner Steffan.

Tift® Method

 

  • Designed to work with complex trauma: Works effectively with a variety of needs, but is especially important for people with complex trauma

  • Focus on the Present: Tift® is focused on solving current problems.

  • Minimal Trauma Exposure: In therapy, past issues are addressed "by the way" and to the extent that they impact the present.

  • Comfort Zone: The entire Tift® therapy process takes place in the comfort zone, creating the necessary safety and directing the body's resources towards recovery and development.

  • This is a gentle and effective psycho-biological approach that involves all structures of the body, including the earliest ones that develop in the pre-verbal period.

  • Tift ® is based on the understanding that every problem in the present was once a solution, necessary and the only possible one in difficult and sometimes unbearable circumstances of the past.

  • Tift® creates conditions in which these defenses and adaptations naturally weaken as new experiences of present security and awareness of current possibilities accumulate.

 

As a result of Tift®, you will find that your reactions spontaneously become more flexible and adaptive, you become more aware of your needs and assertive of your boundaries, and you become more resilient and able to cope with current circumstances.

 Tift ® sessions and therapy process

During a Tift ® session we use cycles of repetition consisting of 2–3 events from the past few days. Repeating these events helps identify current experiences and sensations.

Working through them together with ongoing attunement fosters co‑regulation and gradual integration, and establishes a calming, rhythmic pattern—like a lullaby.

Tift® sessions provide clear structure, predictability and rhythm, creating safe conditions for deep processing both during repetitions and between cycles.

The therapy process includes pre‑session and post‑session feedback and optional contact between sessions for support. Continuous connecthion between the sessions an integral part of the work.

Price

 

  • First session — 60 minutes, €90

  • Subsequent sessions — 45 to 75 minutes, €67.50–€112.50

The duration of subsequent sessions is determined during the first 2–4 sessions to ensure  the optimal session length based on your individual characteristics.

Tift ® is a gentle and deep approach to working with complex trauma. It helps you get out of acute crisis situations and works effectively with any issues, including chronic illnesses, symptoms of any complexity, as well as issues related to self-esteem, relationships, and personal growth. This method creates a safe space for gradual change, allowing you to gain inner stability and confidence.

 

 

Collaboration

The Tift ® method is a unique opportunity to help people quickly and effectively. I am open to collaboration with psychological, crisis, and family centers, as well as institutions such as the police and another organization that need expertise in working with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD (C-PTSD). I am open to considering various forms of collaboration, from consulting support to joint projects, to effectively help clients in difficult situations.

My request was initially about the freezing and burning in the solar plexus area that I experienced in response to aggression or in a conflict situation. This reaction gradually diminished and disappeared after half a year. Now I can defend and protect myself without feeling uncomfortable and recover quickly. I have learned to say "no" for myself.

I came to therapy almost four years ago, in a very difficult state—at rock bottom, with frequent suicidal thoughts and a complete sense of helplessness. I was referred by a friend whose therapist worked with a similar approach.

 

At first, everything seemed strange, a little ritualistic, as if it were “not real.”. But over time, a lot started to change. At first, I thought it was more about the pills I had started taking. But now I understand that it's not just about them. I've gained the ability to say “yes” and “no.” Especially “no.” That's made things much better. Saying “yes” — to my desires — is still difficult, but I understand that without “no,” there can be no “yes.”

 

The main thing is that I feel more alive. I have better skills for connecting with myself and the world. And that feeling is one of the most valuable things I have.
